As most of you are aware, Lighthouse Cove and most of Broward County sustained major damage as a result of Hurricane Wilma on October 24, 2005. Clean up and restoration has begun, but it has become clear that our initial target of having at least some of the resort up and running by year end will not happen.
Insurance adjusters, contractors and the like are still in the process of compiling all the damage information for insurance claim purposes. Additionally, available contractors are hard to come by with all the work in the area. To add to the frustration, contractors and other technicians will not be working a full schedule so as to allow them and their employees time off with their families over the holidays.
Due to all of the above conditions, the Management of Lighthouse Cove has extended the "First possible opening date" to February 3, 2006 which is Week 5 for all units with the exception of the following:
103, 203, 303, 403, 503, 603, 703, 605, 705
We anticipate these units to be opened March 25, 2006 (Week 12). Many area resorts are expecting to be closed for over a year. For any week 52 owners who paid their fees to occupy week 53, refunds are being processed and will be sent out next week unless you banked your week 53 with RCI.
There is good news, The Berkley Group, a major timeshare developer, has offered our displaced owners units at one of four or their resorts based upon availability. These include Vacation Village at Weston or Mizner Place at Weston (South Florida), Vacation Village at Parkway (Disney Area) and Grandview in Las Vegas. All four resorts are Gold Crown and more detailed information may be obtained at www.dailymanagementresorts.com .Please visit this site for information and do not call Lighthouse Cove until you are ready to reserve your time.
A letter is being mailed to all affected owners next week detailing the program, if you banked your week with RCI prior to the hurricane then your week will be honored by RCI and you will not be eligible for this program.
